Rudolf M. Ter-Sarkisov

Rudolf M. Ter-Sarkisov was born on October 18, 1939 in Baku.
In 1970 he graduated from Azizbekov Azerbaijan Institute of Oil and Chemistry, majoring in Technology and Comprehensive Mechanization of Oil and Gas Field Development.
For over 30 years (from 1974 to 2005) R. Ter-Sarkisov was focused on scientific research at VNIIGAZ Institute. In 1995-2001 he was Deputy Director General for Science; till 2002 – Director for Enhanced Hydrocarbon Recovery Methods at VNIIGAZ. From 2002 to 2005 – Director General of VNIIGAZ.
At present – First Deputy Director General, Chief Project Manager at Gazprom dobycha shelf.
Scientific and labor activities of R. Ter-Sarkisov are associated with designing and exploiting Russia’s largest gas fields as well as developing and introducing new of natural gas field exploitation methods. He is author of principally new technologies in the area of enhanced exploitation efficiency for mature gas and condensate as well as oil, gas and condensate fields. He supervised the elaboration of comprehensive resource development programs on the Yamal Peninsula, in Timano-Pechora, Eastern Siberia and the Far East. In his works R. Ter-Sarkisov pays much attention to the entire complex of hydrocarbon field development as well as to sustainable development of the world energy sector. At present he deals with the development of Russia’s Arctic shelf.
Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and Academy of Mining Sciences; since 1994 – Professor at Gubkin State Academy (currently – Gubkin Russian State University) of Oil and Gas.       
Member of the International Global Energy Awarding Committee, Energy and Energy Conservation No.1 and Oil and Gas No.5 sections of the Interdepartmental Council awarding the Russian Federation Government prizes in the sci-tech area. Member of the International Gas Union Council.
Author of over 300 papers including 13 monographs. More than 30 PhD and Doctorate theses on oil and gas field development were defended under his supervision.
Science Emeritus of the Russian Federation, Meritorious Worker of the National Economy of the Komi Republic, Honorary Worker of the Gas Industry, Laureate of the Russian Federation Governmental Science & Technology Prize. Awarded the Excellent Worker of the Gas Industry decoration.
