Alexander I. Gritsenko Alexander I. Gritsenko was born on November 9, 1934 in Krasnodar. In 1958 he graduated from Gubkin Moscow Oil Institute, majoring in Oil and Gas Field Development; in 1963 he finished the postgraduate school at the same Institute. Upon graduation from the Institute A. Gritsenko worked as operator, engineer and chief engineer at the Oil and Gas Industry Directorate of Krasnodarneft. He was actively involved in the development of gas condensate fields in Kuban. In 1966-1977 he performed scientific research and teaching activities at Gubkin Moscow Institute of the Petrochemical and Gas Industry. From 1997 to 2000 he headed VNIIGAZ Institute. In 2001-2002 he acted as Adviser to the Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom. Since 2002 – Adviser to the President, Stroytransgaz. Doctor of Engineering, Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Mining Sciences, Foreign Member of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy, Academician of the Russian Academy of Technological Sciences. Areas of expertise – oil and gas field development and operation, gas utilization in the industrial sector, its transportation, storage and processing, international economic cooperation in the above 7 spheres. Author of over 300 research papers including 40 monographs and 75 inventions. He trained 30 PhDs and Doctors of Science. He supervised the development and publication (2004) of the world’s first Russian Gas Encyclopedia. Science and Technology Emeritus of the Russian Federation, Laureate of the USSR Science & Technology Prize for the development and introduction of advanced sci-tech solutions securing accelerated exploitation of the Urengoyskoye field, Laureate of the Russian Federation State Prize for the development of a set of sci-tech solutions securing the reliability of natural gas production with the use of energy conservation technologies and enhanced recovery of gas and condensate. Awarded the Sign of Honor, For the Outstanding Services to the Fatherland (IV Degree) orders, Leibenzon Large Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for a series of papers “Scientific Bases of Technological Processes during Gas and Gas Condensate Field Exploration and Development”.
